Responsible lumber processing is key at Matériaux Blanchet!
This means that scraps of quality wood produced in our mills aren’t just set aside or thrown away: they all find a new purpose as by-products.
Once our logs have been optimally sawed using our state-of-the-art 3D scanner, here is how all parts of a tree are used during our zero-waste process:
The paper industry buys the woodchips produced by our process, in order to make supreme grade paper and cardboard!
Sawdust finds a second life among manufacturers of particle boards or medium-density fibreboards (MDF), products used primarily for furniture creation.
Shavings can also be used for the production of panels, or even animal bedding.
Finally, our factories use pieces of recovered bark to produce steam, which heats and dries our bundles of wood. Half of the collected bark is used for this purpose, while the other half is sold to be turned into heat or electricity!
This zero-waste process at Matériaux Blanchet is just one of the measures put in place to promote better practices in our industry. Discover all of our sustainable development policies, which have been gradually implemented for over 20 years, right here!
